HELLO, DOLLY!

My next portrait subject is someone who I admire for both her talent and incredible business acumen. She is a powerhouse in a man’s world while still maintaining her femininity. She can be firm while still being kind. She gives back by being a philanthropist She is the very definition of the “more is more” philosophy. and even has her own amusement park……She is DOLLY PARTON!

I chose this portrait because I couldn’t wait to take at stab at this hair. It was a real challenge for both its color, size, and curliness. Her eye make-up was so much fun to recreate, as well.

She was wearing ribbons in her hair so I folded some real white ribbon and sewed it in.

I had to resist the urge to add pearl beads and used different shades of thread to create her pearl jewelry.

The bodice of her dress was beaded with mesh shoulders so I added a french knot with some sparkly thread to create the beadwork and some neutral color thread for the arms to represent the mesh.

The portrait looked so translucent but as I embroidered it, all the color really popped.

And here she is, all done! That hair took me DAYS but it was totally worth it!

Thanks for joining me on my portrait adventures. Hope you can stick around for an exciting upcoming giveaway!

Warmly,

Pam
