ANOTHER CHERISHED LOGO

I have been thinking a lot about stability these days. Everything feels so chaotic. It brings me great comfort to think about things that have stood the test of time.. This next portrait is a face that I’ve seen as far back as I can remember. I’ll bet you will recognize her right away;

It is the sun maid raisin girl!!!!! The sun maid raisin company started way back in 1912! In 1915 a young lady named Lorraine Collett was spotted drying her hair in a red sun bonnet and she was asked to model for the logo (according to the history on the sun maid website.)The boxes were not the catchy red and yellow you see here until 2003 but it is arguably one of the most recognizable logos of all time.

I’ve seen this smiling face all my life. She has been in my lunchbox for years and I have put her in my own kid’s lunchboxes.

The grapes drove me absolutely CRAZY……but were worth it in the end.

The hair was really fun. It was really interesting to interpret a painting instead of a real picture. The colors were so different.

Her face was really challenging because the reference picture was not that detailed.

Well there she is in all her glory. Wondering if you guys have certain logo images that bring you comfort?

Well that’s it for now. Art has been pretty slow with the whole family working from home. Not a lot of down time but I am enjoying the slower pace of family life for the time being. Before I know it, everyone will be flying the coop so I am just taking it in while I can.

Thanks for stopping by!

Warmly,

Pam
