A JACKET UPCYCLE

Today I tackled a really fun little fashion project. My Mom found this pretty jacket in her closet that she hadn’t worn in a while and she asked if I would like to add a little embroidery to it. The material is a boiled wool so it was the perfect surface for embroidery.

Isn’t it pretty? When I look at this I see a blank canvas, just waiting for me to start sewing.

My Mom and I discussed what she might want. Maybe some flowers on the pocket (or in the pocket) and something on the opposite collar; something delicate and floral.

I am usually pretty spontaneous in my work so I didn’t do a sketch but I mentally planned a little. I wanted some wildflowers sticking out of the pocket. I browsed pinterest to get some wildflower images in my head then began to stitch.

The wildflowers looked a little lopsided so I added a little bow to ground them.

I added just some small floral details to the collar. The little dots are crystal beads for a tiny but of sparkle.

I added some little pearls and star stitches.

I have to practically sit on my hands not to keep going but I think this is the perfect amount!

That’s it! Just a fun little upcycle to make an old jacket brand new.

Thanks for stopping by and joining me in crafting adventures!

Please reach out to me if you have a piece you would like to up-cycle. II love this kind of little project and enjoy commissions.

Warmly,

Pam
