JIMI

The next portrait subject is someone I really admire, not only for his artistry, but for his ability to use art as his own personal form of therapy.

This one took me a long time but every stitch was a delight. I loved staring at, and getting to know this face.

It is the legendary JIMI HENDRIX!

One of this things I love about Jimi Hendrix is his soft spoken and shy demeanor. If you ever see old film clips of his interviews, he appears to be such a fragile and delicate soul but he found a language through his music to articulate his emotions and people could feel it.

He came from such humble beginnings and what appeared to be a very tumultuous childhood and guitar saved him. It was described as being almost like a security blanket to him, in that he carried it everywhere. I think art and music have saved so many lives, I just wish Jimi had more time to let his music unfold. It would have really been amazing to see but at least we have his lasting impact and amazing legacy.

“The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long.” ………Lao Tzu

This jacket took a LONG time. I think I need to own one like this. I LOVE it SO MUCH.

He had such a warm openness to his face, didn’t he? I think it was the kindness in his eyes and an over all roundness. Just a certain kind of vulnerability. I think the vulnerability is what I am drawn to in all my portraits.

His clothing definitely took me the longest but was also so rewarding.

Here is the color palette at the end.

A true work of art, this guy!

Thanks for visiting and joining me on my portrait adventures!

I am open for commissions, just send me a message.

Have a wonderful week,

Warmly,

Pam
