Have you ever ordered shoes online and then realize what a mistake it was to order shoes online? Yup, most of us have been in this position. For me, shoes just seem to be one of those things that have to be tried on unless I’m ordering a pair I already have and know the fit/style.
Well, my Mom was recently the victim of this conundrum. She ordered a pair of shoes from an online store she was unfamiliar with and when she got them, was gravely disappointed. They didn’t look anything like the picture and the size was totally off. There was a “not worth bothering” return policy so she brought them downstairs and threw them on the floor in front of me. We both stared in silence for a moment.
“Hmmmmm”, I said, tilting my head and considering the possibilities.
“Want them?”, she said.
“Sure, I kind of like them in a weird way. Mind if I paint them?”, I said.
“Do whatever you want, they’re yours!”, she declare
And so I did.
So here they are in their cafe-au-lait colored glory. Rubber bottomed and odd ice skating lacing, yet something kind of appealing in a hippie/ballerina kind of way. I used my white gel pen to start sketching some flowers, birds and butterflies.
Too far?
Now I just have to get the courage to wear them!!!
I really love them and they are really comfortable even with big socks.
