I DREAM OF JEANNIE

This next portrait subject was a character in a show I LOVED when I was little . The image and theme song are permanently etched in my mind. You’re humming it right now, aren’t you? As I look back , I have to chuckle a little about the fact that the whole show was about some guy who actually had a tiny female captured in a bottle that he could take out whenever he pleased and she would grant him any wish he wanted. Ughhhhh.

That aside, I adored this show. At the time, Mattel came up with a toy bottle playhouse. I BEGGED my Mom to get me this for Christmas. It had a tiny elevator that was attached to the cap and a little Jeannie doll that you could pull out of the bottle.

Santa/Mom came through for me and the bottle arrived for Christmas that year. It was one of my most memorable holidays and man, was I excited to get that bottle.

Little did I know that years later, that little elevator would become the death trap for one of our beloved gerbils but that’s a story for another day.

Her eyes were really interesting. A lovely shade of gray/blue. They also had some interesting shadows at the top that were a challenge to tackle. Her mouth was slightly ajar and you could see just a peak of her tongue.

I loved working on her pink scarf with all the various shades of pinks and lavenders.

Here is Jeannie’s color palette. I’m always surprised to see the colors I have used when I’m all finished. I mostly pull colors as I see them so it’s fun to see them all together at the end.

Well, there she is!

I guess I’ve been thinking we could all use a little magic right now.

Thanks for following along on my portrait journey.

Hope you are all staying safe and healthy .

Warmly,

Pam
